Independent

Independent immigrants are selected for the knowledge, skills and experience needed in Canada's labour market. Canada wants person who has high skill, university graduates who are fluent in English and / or French and have several years of work experience and sufficient money to resettle in Canada ( C$ 10,000 min.) All areas are critical for calculating your point score but please be particularly precise in the areas of language skills, education, age, and work experience. Also, there are financial thresholds; for example, with less than C$ 10,000 you will be refused for lack of resettlement funds or with over C$ 800,000 you could qualify in the business program. We can only score the information you provide.

Canada each year selects over 200,000 new immigrants (265,000 in 2009). Independent Selected Workers form a large portion of this overall number. Currently, Canada is seeking qualified applicants in all occupations.

For independent applicants applying under the skilled worker program, there are a series of factors that are assessed for the purposes of determining an individual's likelihood of succeeding in settling in Canada. Each factor is allotted a maximum number of points.
